Juniper Lament
02:34
|
|||
I fear death
I fear my own mortality
Where are you now?
Somewhere beyond the threshold
Of this material world
Traced in air
Heartache is the slowest killer
This empty house
Upon the juniper hill
I still feel your presence
If I remember you did you really die?
I'll keep your memory alive

Terra Nova
04:20
|
|||
Far to the east of Canadian shores
An island rests shrouded in mist
Severed off from the rest of the world
Where she receives the cold Atlantic's kiss
Inhabited by my people
Hardened folk raised on salt tempered waves
An ocean realm so dear to me
Forever shrouded in skies so grey
In a place by the sea
Shrouded in mystery
For her I shall stand
For ye olde Newfoundland
The Long Ranges are mine
And for all Livyers' kind
And for my ancestors
I am Terra Nova
Connected to the briny deep
We are masters of the freezing waters
Ships so strong we command Poseidon
Seafaring might we shall never falter
In a place by the sea
Shrouded in mystery
For her I shall stand
For ye olde Newfoundland
The Long Ranges are mine
And for all Livyers' kind
And for my ancestors
I am Terra Nova
In a place by the sea
Shrouded in mystery
For her I shall stand
For ye olde Newfoundland
The Long Ranges are mine
And for all Livyers' kind
And for my ancestors
I am Terra Nova

Temperamental Sawblades
02:52
|
|||
Rosedale, a most peaceful glen
Coastal, subtle, home to hard working men
A saw mill's presence on the green grass field
Where the lumberjacks felled the local weald
Trees chopped down to be made into lumber
Until one day came an uproarious thunder
A gas leak led to fire and flames
And an explosion rocked the glen so tame
Temperamental sawblades
Careening through the air
Barreling down towards the men
As they screamed in despair
A dangerous environment
Unsafe working conditions
Blood spilled in the fire
A deadly premonition
Devious destruction of metal and wood
Stone, steal, bone and flesh burning where the forest stood
Circular discs of serrated iron
Cursed to cut men in half in the heat of the fire
Blood spilled in the wake of human industry
Dedicated to the genocide of the trees
Got what was coming to them
Seems that we simple folk never learn from way back when
Temperamental sawblades
Careening through the air
Barreling down towards the men
As they screamed in despair
A dangerous environment
Unsafe working conditions
Blood spilled in the fire
A deadly premonition

Controlled Burn
04:13
|
|||
You sought to help out
The environment any way you could
But it was man made folly
Set aflame the wood
A poorly thought out plan
Cursed from forest to the lakeside sands
Acres of woodland dying
Destruction at your hands
Burning away the dead
And the dying to make way for a fresh start
Consume the wilderness in a newness
But now flames have consumed her heart
A taint on this wild gestalt
This is all your fault
Controlled burn
The power has slipped through your fingers
Controlled burn
Not so, now out of control
Desecration!

Bloody Bay Massacre
06:21
|
|||
We had settled these lands
This harbor was our own
Where we fished and hunted
Always it was to be our home
Guarded by snow capped mountains
Flanked by the pine clan hills
Never would we imagine
The snow white men who would come to kill
Bloody Bay … massacre
Bloody Bay … massacre
Bloody Bay … massacre
Bloody Bay … massacre
They encroached upon
Our sacred territory
Killing the reverent nature
And the woods on the promontory
A burden upon our spirits
These outsiders do not belong
We cannot coexist
We cannot get along
Sharpen the tomahawks
Fletch more arrows and bows
Tonight we descend from
Mount Calvary to the homesteads below
A ravenous family invaded
Took Angle Brook when it wasn’t there’s to take
Now we will take it back
This horde we shall decimate
Our axes cut deep in the flesh
Wounds spurt blood as they wake from their rest
Jump out of bed at the sound of their screams
In the moonlight our arrowheads gleam
We kill to reclaim for the earth
What was stolen from us we’ve had since birth
No mercy for foreign invaders
Die at the hands of our Beothuk raiders
Death to the colonists

Looming over this little town
Is a monument to cowards and lies
A place where as a child
I was deceived and led to be blind
But now in my adult life
Through a lifted veil I see the truth
A place of wretched disgust
Using fear to brainwash the youth
Through the words of ancient tomes
They corrupt our homes
And through speaking in Tongues
God's work is done
But I will never forgive
For as long as I live
One day I'll break these shackles
And set fire to the tabernacle
Spreading naught but a fake gospel
To those who swallow every word
Delivered to them by a mouth of war
Spreading hate as far as it can be heard
I plan to bury that cross in the ground
Turn the steel steeple straight into ash
Watch that motherfucker go up in flames
Beneath the winds of cemetery grass
Through the words of ancient tomes
They corrupt our homes
And through speaking in Tongues
God's work is done
But I will never forgive
For as long as I live
One day I'll break these shackles
And set fire to the tabernacle
You have earned yourself a taste of my wrathful fire
You must have known that since day one
My secular will would be done
You'll perish in the flames of my vengeful ire
And in your ruins
My kingdom shall come

Bury the Islanders
06:24
|
|||
The Samson Islands
Archipelago in far eastern waters
Settled by Englishmen
In an age of colonial power
My great grandfather
Lived there with his family
Living off the salty ocean
Not knowing one day he'd cease to be
Ocean man
On cursed sands and on doomed lands
Ocean man
Nearly a century ago here he'd stand
They were destined to become Newfoundlanders
In the end they buried the islanders
Upon Flat Island
Marble gravestones rest in decay
Marking the bones of my elders
As their legacy fades away
Still shining stark white in the sun
Hardened stone never turning grey
Never weathering in oceanic storms
For an eternity here they shall stay
Ocean man
On cursed sands and on doomed lands
Ocean man
Nearly a century ago here he'd stand
They were destined to become Newfoundlanders
In the end they buried the islanders

Valley in Flames
04:16
|
|||
Fire!
Burning the forests
Sparks fly from the rails
Ablaze in summer heat
Prevention set to fail
Haul water to the woodland
Heap liquid upon the coals
Dread the consequences
Of industry sevenfold
Valley in flames
Turn up the heat
Valley in flames
The fire closer creeps
Touching the outskirts of town
Licking the sides of houses
Destroying acres of farmland
Unable to put out or dowse
Brittle wood falls victim
To the searing warmth
Burning to the ground
The blaze sunders forth
Valley in flames
Turn up the heat
Valley in flames
The fire closer creeps
We shall never recover from these wounds
The forests around our home are doomed
We shall perish in the light of summer
To the fire spirits we’re destined to suffer

With Sawdust as My Ashes
03:38
|
|||
The industry has crumbled
Succumbed to economic turmoil
At the behest of sordid flames
Tearing down tracts of livelihood
My grandfather built this mill
He carved it with his bare hands
And gave work to all of his sons
In the forests of Newfoundland
But now it sits a desolate husk
Rusting in decay, weathered waste away
Abandoned for more than a decade
Falling apart, ripped at the seams
My grandfather built this mill
He carved it with his bare hands
And gave work to all of his sons
In the forests of Newfoundland
Ugh!
With sawdust as my ashes
I shall fade slowly into the earth
Leaving nothing behind
But the nostalgia and a memory
I go to join my father
Beneath the dirt, above the aether
And my legacy will rot away
To be consumed by the roots of nature

Ghost Town
06:53
|
|||
Every time I return
I hope to see familiar faces
But only ghosts remain
Replaced by people I no longer know
Empty houses
Missing souls
I no longer feel at home
The past is fading
I cannot hope to hold it
Move on or be left behind
Things have changed
For better or for worse
But I know what I must do
Say goodbye
To those dead and gone
I will not yet join the phantoms
This surreal feeling
Never seems to leave my mind
Everything is so bizarre
Twenty years down the road
So this is where I stand
Do I belong to this chasm?
No, I refuse to succumb
To the gate of ghosts
Empty houses
Missing souls
I no longer feel at home
The past is fading
I cannot hope to hold it
Move on or be left behind
Things have changed
For better or for worse
But I know what I must do
Say goodbye
To those dead and gone
I will not yet join the phantoms
This is a final parting
To the ghost town I call home

Come on down to greet me
Into the paradise of fire
I want to meet you, baby
And have a little fun maybe
Into the depths of the Inferno
Stare
Grotesque, baby
Clarinets coming from my chest
If you stay, baby
I'll be sure to ...
'Cause I'm Satan
'Cause I'm Satan
Never really made it
Torturing lost souls forever
In the pits you will tell me to
Stop!
Eating your children and molesting your kin
Love me forever and you will never
Never be
Be free again
None of God's creations now will rule until the end of time
Never really made it ('Cause I'm Satan)
Torturing lost souls forever
In the pits you will tell me to ('Cause I'm Satan)
Stop!
